For example, I have a Timemore C2 Max that I got to try out hand grinders. It's perfectly fine and cost $70. The ZP6 is $200, barely 3x the price and in real terms, the difference is only $130. With the ZP6 burr, this grinder is designed to specifically bring out the best clarity in pour over coffee by producing a stunningly consistent grind. Comfortable grip, easy to grind and good weight. - Curved handle lever and ball knob for ease of handle. - 9 numbers on the dial, and 90 clicksThe grinder can reduce the size of the coffee bean by crushing it or by cutting it. When the coffee bean is crushed, it creates a bimodal ground size distribution: one peak occurs due to the small fines created during the crush, and another at the given ground size setting of the grinder. On the other side, when the ground is cut, no small fine is created, only ground …1Zpresso ZP6 special is the latest 1Zpresso grinder, having been released in late 2022. This grinder has a 6-sided burr that provides the best pour-over coffee. It quickly became pour-over coffee lovers’ favorite grinder. It produces the cleanest-tasting coffee compared to manual and many electric grinders. The only downside (and it's like one I can think of so far) is that the X-Pro will take a longer period of time to grind than the K6, and that's due to the Burr size. Not sure if that will change your opinion, just something I noted. You also have to shake the grinder a as beans tend to get stuck above the burrs. The only downside (and it's like one I can think of so far) is that the X-Pro will take a longer period of time to grind than the K6, and that's due to the Burr size. You also have to shake the grinder a as beans tend to get stuck above the burrs.Personally, I find the ZP6 to be very use case specific. It works wonders with certain coffees but makes others taste like water. Highly soluble or coffees that produces large amounts of fines work great with it. Even in our bar, we dial in coffees with different grinders and use different grinders for different customers based on their ...Fresh ground pepper adds a savory touch with some kick to any meal. Even better, you don’t have to wait until you dine out to enjoy this taste sensation. Pepper grinders come in different styles with different types of blades. At worst, it's $100 for a paperweight, which I can live with. At best, it's a highly unimodal ghost burr hand grinder which will supplement my espresso bar for when I want filter coffee. For me, the point of this is to be purely filter focused - I wouldn't touch espresso with this with a ten foot pole. Ghost burr hand grinder.I often use a feld47 for filter, which produces a very balanced cup (far better than my niche anyway). The zp6 has definitely surpassed those two grinders, and I think the biggest pleasant surprise of the ZP6 is that it has been shockingly forgiving. Range of brew times, ratios, grind settings and it's hard to make a "bad" cup.Overall, the ZP6 Special is a well-thought-out piece of equipment that feels as premium as it performs. ZP6 Burrs, Grind Adjustment System and Grind Performance. The ZP6 Special features a unique 6-sided burr set, a design previously seen in 1Zpresso’s Js, Ks, and Z Pro models.I did a H2H test of the C40 MK IV against the ZP6. These are my preliminary findings. ZP6 Grind setting: ~4.2 (Still grappling with the grind setting; visually its halfway between 4 and 4.5) Brewing observations: Both grinders drawdown finished by around 2mins25s with ZP6 having a slightly faster drawdown at ~2min20s. The ZP6 sounds like the better grinder for pour over, but I'm hung up on the magnetic catch on the K-Max. I put 42g through a Chemex every morning, meaning I'll need to grind in two batches. The magnetic catch would this easier. I'm also concerned about the threads on the ZP6 catch wearing out like they have on my Lido 3. It produces the cleanest-tasting coffee compared to manual and many electric grinders. The only comparison I would have is for cupping. Which for me, the zp6 and the SSP MP were very similar but I give the edge to the zp6 which seemed to allow me to taste the coffee more clearly. And I like having a dedicated hand grinder for pour over rather than just moving the dial around, which I have done in the past. The zp6 is definitely capable of producing a shitty tasting cup, and isn't impervious to bitterness like many suggest. With that said, I think choosing the right technique is key for dialing a coffee/grinder setting. I typically start the zp6 at 5.5-5.8 and use a bloom + 3 circular slow pour technique (50g bloom + 100g + 100g + 100g) with 200F ...Very similar, if not almost identical, cup qualities. Anyway- I should have a K Ultra and ZP6 on the way. They might make the grinder a tad bigger or add a magnetic catch cup as well in the future. In the end, it comes down to preference. Some people love magnetic catch cups, some people hate them. The build quality regarding 1zpresso is awesome in general btw.Nov 18, 2022 · A lot of folks have questioned the hype around the grinder, but imo there has been very little forward progress in clarity / filter driven grinders in recent years. (Ode w/ssp is over double the cost of zp6) Most strive to be the balanced "do everything" grinder and in doing so fall a bit short of ideal. To me this explains some of the extra hype. I own a K-Plus, ZP6, and I previously owned a K4 (same grinder as K6 with espresso-focused burr). If value is high on your priority list - K6 without a doubt. 1ZP build quality is a little better for sure, but the K6 a really nice grinder for $96. I personally think the hype around ZP6 "clarity" has been blown a little out of proportion. The Jx grinders have burrs that are quite similar to the Italmill burrs inside the Kinu M47, whereas the K Plus has burrs that look a bit more like the famous nitro blades of the Comandante C40. The K-max is a fantastic filter coffee grinder, and like I said, unless you really value that added 2-3% bump in clarity, it just ain't worth going for the zp6, in my opinion. And this is not to hate on the zp6, I ordered one myself, but I already have a comandante and an electrical grinder with SSP MP burrs, so I have no need for a hand ...Ever since using ZP6 with external clicks, it’s hard to go back to an internal style click grinder. Just don’t understand why did comandante made the new C60 an internal click adjustment again, for a product that’s been released late 2023, it’s design seems really outdated. comments sorted by Best Top New Controversial Q&A Add a Comment. …The 1zpresso ZP6 was made specifically for pour overs to give clarity. Lance ranks it as his favorite hand grinder for pour overs. I cannot comment on your grinder as I have never used or tasted coffee from it. And the ZP6 is my only 1zpresso grinder. I have googled a few times but haven't found much good actually comparing them. But I did figure out that Lance's review of all the 1zpresso grinders had the zp6 special while his first was the normal zp6. I would want to confirm it from another source since 3 bearings are not normal in manual grinders but if he is right that the ZP6 has 3 bearing connections on the shaft, then the ZP6 is likely more stable as the X-Pro is listed as two bearings.Step 1. Before placing the inner burr in the grinder, tighten the adjustment dial counter-clockwise all the way and then to #0. The zp6 was released after I had the x-pro, and I considered the zp6 as an extravagant purchase just to chase that “clarity”, but honestly cannot justify it specially since I already have 2 grinders, and there seems to be a consensus that the difference is not all that noticeable unless you’re really looking close. The only downside (and it's like one I can think of so far) is that the X-Pro will take a longer period of time to grind than the K6, and that's due to the Burr size. I used 3 different coffees: a washed Guatemalan, a washed Kenyan, and a natural Ethiopian. For a little bit more money you can get an Ode Gen 2 and get an electric grinder that (for my taste) makes better filter coffee.
